Last visit to Bad Muenstereifel

It was lovely to have the opportunity to clean my grandparents grave and place some flowers and a candle there.

Happy Birthday Julian, we miss you!

Last Dr Nick Quote from me, but funny just the same. I look forward to baking a cake and having a get together when we get back.

'Der Schrei' by Edvard Munch - we saw it in Oslo !!!!

One of the paintings byb Edvard Munch called "The Scream," which sold for nearly $120 million at auction in May 2012.
The sale made the painting the most expensive artwork ever sold at auction. It was purchased by an anonymous private collector at Sotheby's. Munch created four versions of "The Scream" between 1893 and 1910. This is the only one in private hands. The others are in Norwegian museums.

And they are the ones we saw in Oslo National Gallery yesterday!
I know, this is pretty tacky - but I could not help myself when the cue was so long!

Rainy Bergen, still lovely

Mike sucht Schutz vorm Regen

Sonst so bunt, sieht der Akker Brygge Distrikt etwas grau aus.

Ein toll geschnitzer (kettengesaegter?) Riesen-Aal

Mike findet den Elch gut

Vielleicht deswegen meint Mike der Elchhut steht mir bestens?

When the weather gets rough, the tough go shopping

Just joking. I lost myself for a little while in this crockery shop window display. Mike let me take a few photos.

Today's fjord tour

Mike chose reindeer steak
My birthday meal! Salmon, yum

Our breakfast table at the Heimly afforded us the first look of the worsening weather.
It ended up being a day I won't forget in a while. Amazing scenery. First I thought it was such  a shame that it was raining. Then when we got going, I thought it was magical with the rain lifting and the clouds lingering between the mountains around the fjord. As the photos will show I hope (still missing my good camera).

On the cruise ship we were impressed by the type of hats our fellow passengers appeared with - a moose and seal hat for authentic weather protection.

We instead opted for the boring old Aussie Rainbird coat.

Good-bye Flam!

I spotted a dolphin!!! Did not know they liked the cold water.

The bus trip from Gudvanger to Voss was a rainy trip past numerous waterfalls down very windy roads - Anja you would love it, Victor you'd need the Quells.

That's the sort of face one would expect on a building in rainy Bergen.

We ate Norwegain Meatballs with mushy, buttery peas (a traditional dish) for dinner. We rolled home.
